If you know me, you know, I love a good night ‘out out’. Carefully curating my playlist to blast whilst I get ready, getting all dressed up and cute, arriving at the club and dancing until my Granny knees are sore is my absolute favourite pastime, (2nd only to travelling of course). You can trust me to find a good place to do exactly that pretty much anywhere I go.
I’ve heard that St. Kitts is THE place for a classic night out – they have a strip that people will travel over to for a night out out. Much like the general vibe of Nevis, its spots are a little more chill: think bars that play very loud music with the option of dancing.
I made the mistake of trying to go out on a rainy Sunday night so things were a little dead. However, between my own experiences and from what I’ve heard from very reliable sources, (ie. my good time, fun loving family), these are my top spots if you find yourself out… like, out out.
First place, and somewhere I want to try again, Enrique’s Bar…

This is right in town and looks very unsuspecting – you’ll hear it before you see it. It’s pretty small but was the most ‘clubby’ of all the places I’ve visited. There even seemed to be a make shift VIP area on a step up above the dancefloor. There was lighting and music loud enough to make you feel something. On the topic of music, it was very reggaeton heavy which you know I loved, but the ‘dj’, (the guy sat at the bar with his 2 tabs of youtube open), was incredibly open to taking requests. I can imagine this place is LITTTTTT when it’s full, which it gets at the weekend.
Next up, the one with potential, 869
This is a little far out from town as it’s in Gingerland. It stands out as it’s right next to a petrol station, so kind of hard to miss. Although it’s relatively new, (only about 4 months old), it was a firm favourite of my family. It’s labelled as a sports bar and grill with various screens showing sport events and delicious food on offer. If you get this place on a good night, especially during Culturama, it will be pretty busy as they have djs playing banging music. Being that it’s still very new, there’s so much to be refined about the place but my family reckon, with some tweaks, it would be a 9/10 spot. Right now, it’s not the place to go out to for dance, but it’s an ideal spot to grab a drink and hang out at.
Finally, my absolute favourite, 5 Trees

This is the second time that I’ve been to 5 Trees and it has become a firm favourite of mine. It’s inwards from town, (if you visit, that’ll make sense), directly opposite the Nevis Cultural Complex. This place has it all! It’s open so ideal on a warm night with the breeze flowing through, it has a very well stocked bar, a little dancefloor and food – think the post night out burger and chips, but whilst you’re on the night out.
The music is always giving 10/10 and even on a rainy Sunday night, this place was still buzzing. They even had 2 djs doing their thing… ON A SUNDAY! Drinks at these local spots are pretty cheap but here an order of 2 beers, 2 shots and a soft drink came to the equivalent of £13. I believe they have karaoke on Thursdays with Fridays & Saturdays being the busiest days. The guys who run the place are lovely, supper chatty and up for a good time. You can find them @5trees869 on Insta.
I think something about going out in Nevis still seems slightly foreign to me. Whilst I grew up coming here to visit family, most of my cousins are either far older, in a v. different stage of life to me or have literal children so I never really had anyone to go out with. Discovering these spots has been really fun and also shown me that I really need to focus my attention on local spots. We have a tendency to ‘treat ourselves’ a lot whilst we’re in Nevis which involves going to the big hotels for dinner and drinks. This last trip really opened my eyes to how diverse and how MANY local places there are to go. Not only are they usually way cheaper, but also the money spent within them actually support locals, ensures tourism money is directly benefitting the people and supports the community.
Anyways, do you have any recommendations for me for next year? It’s Culturama so I’m imagining it’s going to be pretty wild.
