Island Life: Nevis Baby

I think I probably chose the absolute worst week weather wise to return to Nevis. There were 3 storms raging across the Caribbean Sea and Nevis was getting the shitty weather dragged up by them. Think thick cloud and constant rain – I hate to say it, but it seemed like the weather was better in England, (cries).

Even so, I still had an amazing time. I simply just love being in Nevis, it really feels like home. The pace of life, (unless you need to get something done in which case the Londoner in me throws a tantrum every time), the island vibe, the people, the ability to wake up and have breakfast outside, walking around the garden and essentially doing a free food run – it’s just immaculate.

I went to the hot bath to soothe my sore neck. I picked myself a fresh mango every morning for breakfast. I cooked with the avocados that were growing just outside the kitchen. I beeped my horn at wandering goats and donkeys on the road. I spent time drinking Peardrella on the verandah with my Grandad. I sat on the, (albeit very cloudy beach), and calmed my mind listening to the waves.

Every year I go, I question whether I might actually be able to make it my actual home. I’ve always said Nevis is too small, too laidback for me in my current stage of life, but every year it becomes that little bit bigger. We’ll see, either way, trust and believe that I will be back for Culturama next year.
