About a 2 minute walk from Chorlton tram stop, nestled between a Christmas tree vendor and a burrito shop, you’ll find Little Blanchflower, but don’t let the slightly random, humble setting fool you…
The idea of the menu is around sharing, so they’re smaller plates than a traditional full main. They recommend 3-4 plates between 2 but I would definitely say more like 4-5. We ordered 2 ‘starters’, 2 ‘mains’, (they’re interchangeable and the ‘starters’ could easily be sides), and one dessert to share. There’s no real point in me telling you what we ordered as they change their menu often, which I love! It means that you can go again and again without having to eat the same thing again and again. This is great for me because I plan on going again, and again and again.
The food itself is easily 10/10. I’m going to say that this is the best pasta and Italian food in general that I’ve had since being in Manchester. The fresh pasta was cooked perfectly and every dish had a perfect balance of flavours – not a single dish missed. They have a separate vegan menu which I didn’t read but the vegetarian options on the main menu don’t seem like an ‘option’ or like an afterthought. The veggie dishes are well thought out, form as much a part of the menu as the rest and are straight up delicious.
The wait staff are super warm, friendly and the service was impeccable. We got new plates, new napkins and cutlery with each course and our water was kept topped up the entire time. They were attentive and helpful even with a fairly full restaurant.
If you just fancy getting out of the city centre, Chorlton has a great food scene and I would seriously recommend Little Blanchflower. I think you can walk-in for lunch but I’d defo recommend booking for dinner. Find them here.
