2025: The Year of Having Fun

As a global community, we all decided 2025 actually starts today, Monday 6th January right? Okay good, I’m not late.

Whew, me and the blog had a rocky relationship in 2024. I became somewhat obsessed with trying to monetize the blog and in the process, I lost the joy I got from writing it. I truly love writing this blog to have a digital record of my memories, experiences, feeling and have recommendations for my friends and family. But in 2023/2024, I found myself not writing in my normal voice as I was trying to make my posts more ‘informative’ and friendly for the masses, only posting if I could be bothered to create a reel/tiktok vid to accompany it, (which I also started to hate), and editing the absolute shit out of pictures until they were perfect. This all led to it feeling like a chore- like a job.

So I’ve changed tact – I’ve removed the blog from my insta and delinked it from my tiktok. This will return to being my online journal, for me and anyone else that has fun reading it. ‘Having fun’ being the key part here as that is exactly what EYE plan to do this year.

If you read my post about my goals for 2024, you’ll know what’s happening this year. A childhood dream, (read: obsession), is coming true in 2025! Best believe, I will be writing about every. single. thing. This year is going to be full of new experiences, fun, laughter, wonder and new & meaningful connections. This is the plan for 2025:

  1. Travel – duh.
  2. Find my one true love – your girl is getting off the streets this year and finding her forever home. I’m also determined to have fun in dating as opposed to it being the miserable chore I’ve seen it as in the past.
  3. Find my passion.
  4. Complete a half marathon – I tried to do this in 2024, but pulled a tendon in my calf… twice. We go again in 2025.
  5. Continue to work on my mental health – the internal ‘glow up’ I worked on in 2024 has actually really helped with my mental. My SAD in the bleak UK mid-winter over the last few years has gotten me to a very dark, very scary place, but this year I feel like I have faired a lot better: when the dark clouds roll in, I feel that I am able to clear them much quicker, easier and keep the sun out for longer.
  6. Lose weight – whilst the internal glow up was a success, the external glow up did not go so well. I weighed myself at the end of the 2024 and cried so we need to fix up and quick!

I just know, with every single fibre, bone, muscle, cell, mitochondria and atom of my being, that 2025 is going to be the best year of my life so far.
